They are most known for their pouches on their stomachs. Inside is where their new born baby lives for 2 months, and doesn't come out until then. When a joey is born, it is smaller then a cherry. When it is inside the pouch it grows into a tiny marspial. Red Kangaroos are the largest marsupials on earth. These kangaroos are very fast and can reach a speed of over 35 mph while hopping. There legs are so strong that they can jump up to 6 feet in the air! Most kangaroos weigh 200 pounds! Be sure to keep your distance just in case the kangaroo wants to go hopping. One of their leaps can be 25 feet long! If you are too scared to come face to face with this animal be sure to pick up the stuffed animal kangaroo at the gift shop! (National Geographic)
